Sunday at First UMC

Day 4 of Intentional Living's 7 Day Experiment...partner with someone for success. All I had to do was walk into First United Methodist and all the partners I could hope for were right there. This is the wonderful thing about my church: we love and care for each other, and we are glad to be together where everything is possible and so many things happen. Some Sundays it's a walk-in runaway that took an army of us to assist; some days I have a student helper to do the altar; today I talked with a good friend who heads up the migrant ministry and we found out we had a mutual interest in leadership, so he is going to help me with connections (and I'm going to keep assisting with the migrant ministry); I also pretended to be Marcia Alley in her absence, but there are just some people you can't measure up to! My husband surprised me at breakfast by suggesting to our grown kids that we make a Sunday habit of going to church together and having breakfast together afterwards as it has become rather difficult to maintain our Sunday evening dinners which we did for a long time. All in all each day of 'the experiment' has affirmed for me that intentional actions are what we have to do every day in some combination to create a life worthy of the One who gave it to us.
