Senate Votes

To be a part of Lobby Day 2015 and to have the resolutions go to the floor for vote was exciting to observe. The Senate gallery continued to transform with more and more lobby day participants... the purple was scattered about at first and soon the majority in the gallery were silently showing their support to end DMST with their purple scarves and/ or shirts. Many of us sat, prayed, and listened as Senator Renee Unterman started to present SR 7 to the other senators present. Then other Senators stood in "the well" to share their words of praise for Senator Unterman's leading the charge, support for SR 7 and encouraged others to also vote in favor of the resolution. The time came for the vote, we were on the edge of our seats praying for God to move in hearts as the seconds ticked by as votes were cast... A majority supported SR 7; only 3 Nay votes. the gallery could not contain our excitement nor our "silent observance"... applause broke out. Senator Renee Unterman was overwhelmed at the passing... as she came forward to present SB 8... again others spoke in support, the voting time came, and again the senators overwhelming supported the bill. Thank you Senator Renee Unterman for your tenacity, your leadership, and your spearheading the fight on the legislative front. Now to win across the rotunda in with the House.
